Bristol, UK, August 2024
23rd and 24th of August
I caught the bus out to the airport after Suz dropped me off at Schwedenplatz. I flew into Heathrow and eventually found the Central Bus Station (down to the underground level, then along a couple of hundred metres and back up) where the bus turned up only half an hour late. Bridge, Beck and Graham turned up at Bristol Bus Station soon after I arrived and we walked into the centre of town.
Dinner is an informal affair before we continue onto a BnB on Coronation Road.
24th of August All four of us participate in the Park Run at Ashton House. In the rain. By the time Bridge and I finish, so has the rain. We return to the house for brunch before Bridge, Beck and myself drive off to find our grandfather's house, and then, his grave. Bridge had brought over some of dad's ashes, which we spread over the grave.
There is time for a quick tour of the SS Great Britain, the biggest ship in the world from 1845 to 1853. And back in the dry dock at the Great Western Dockyard it was originally made in. The iron hull survived but most of the wood work was replaced.
